Eggs - Jumbo and extra large sized brown eggsGrower: Upstate, SC Locally Grown Market
Price: $4.25 ( A DOZEN )Available (Estimated): 47
These are big eggs from regular healthy brown egg layers. Certain hens just lay bigger eggs.
No cages, ever! No hormones, no antibiotics, and hens are free to roam during daylight hours, protected from predatory animals by a surrounding fence. They lay the eggs in nest boxes in the barn during the day, and then go back out to pick, peck, cluck, and socialize. At night, the whole flock roosts in a huge airy barn, protected from night-time dangers. We try to keep their lives as natural as possible, and have actual tree limbs for some of the roosts. A deep layer of leaves line the roosting area, and the hen's nest boxes.

Eggs - SmallGrower: Upstate, SC Locally Grown Market

Great for omlets! These are poulet eggs; young hens just starting to lay. Many folks say that these are the tastiest egs, and they may well be, as this is the prime of the hen's life: a time when she is healthiest, in her "puberty". The yolk may be a little richer, but I do not know scientific facts on this. These chicks were born last October. Yes, it takes 6 months for a chicken to start laying, and another two months, on the average, to make full-sized eggs. So, now we may begin to see why the cost of eggs continues to rise: We feed the hen for eight months in faith that, in her life-time, she will repay us with her eggs. Each chicken may produce one-half dozen eggs/week, in good conditions and in good health.

6 Beautiful pastel colored eggs in a round see-through container; pink, blue-green. make a lovely display. Natural colors of the Americauna chicken egg shells; the inside is the same as all free-range eggs: golden yellow.
Very docile, these multi-colored and rare hens are free to live a great life of picking their foods and activities, with plenty of food, water, fresh air, sunshine, and shade. They love to dustbathe for their health, as well as to stretch out in a sunny spot and warm themselves for a while, even on summer mornings, But, once the sun is high, the whole flock pretty much heads for the shady spots to snooze or to scratch up a snack from under the leaves.
